Steamship built in 1883 by Nederlandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij, Fijenoord (Rotterdam), Netherlands for the Holland America line. 3,130 tons, length 328.1 ft. x beam 41.3 ft., 1 funnel, 2 masts, steel construction, single screw propulsion. Service Speed: 10-12 knots. Accommodations: 50 passengers in 1st class, and 424 in 3rd class (steerage). Launched: August 29, 1883. Maiden voyage October 27, 1883 - sailed from Amsterdam to New York. On September 19, 1895 she collided with the British ship Turkistan in the English Channel in a dense fog and sunk. No lives were lost.
