"Dutch" Riepe, 76, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Knoxville, Iowa. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Graveside military services will be conducted by Davenport American Legion Post 26. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Mr. Riepe was employed as a tool and die technician at International Harvester, Farmall Works, Rock Island. He retired in 1985. Leroy Fredrick Riepe was born May 11, 1921, to Otto and Isabella (Garey) Riepe in Davenport. He married Wilma R. Rudd on November 5, 1971, in Watertown, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Leroy was a lifelong resident of the Davenport and Bettendorf areas. He had spent the last six years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Knoxville, due to declining health. He was a former member of the Davenport Moose Lodge. He graduated from Davenport High School. Leroy loved working in his yard and around the house. He and Wilma enjoyed camping in their travel trailer. He loved dogs and cats and all sports, especially auto racing. His grandchildren were very special to him. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Foundation or the Scott County Humane Society. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Riepe, Bettendorf; a son, Ron Riepe and wife Kathleen and their children, Perry, Kelly, Ryan and John; a son, Gary Riepe and children Jason and Jessica; a daughter, Sherry Russell and husband Wayne and their children Wendy and Natalie; a stepson, Tom Rudd and wife Vicky and their children Kevin and Kimberly, all of Davenport; a stepdaughter, Cindy Hohn and husband Bill, Montpelier, Iowa; a sister, Florence Groves, Davenport; and a sister-in-law, Frances Riepe, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters."
